WoW Druid Guide

Druids are a unique class. They are the one type of character where you can tank, dps, or heal. Druids can do everything and anything but can be the best at nothing. Most guilds will want you to heal, but occasionally the lucky druid will get to tank in raids. DPS druids usually stick to PVP and arenas although many players think that since you can heal that you should be strictly a healer. If you want to raid, you will need to expect to be a healer as most guilds are in need of healers. If you solo or want to purely PVP, druids are fun since they are like rogues with heals.

Moonkin druids (or boomkin as they are called) also bring an extra buff to your party and the druid becomes a caster dps role.  If you plan to raid or play in arenas, you will have a hard time finding a group, but many people love to play a caster druid.  Depending on your style of play, you can spec your druid for many different needs.

The downside to being a druid is that they are currently the best at healing. They are not the best dps nor are they the best tanks. I’m sure many druids would disagree, but there is a reason a warrior is a main tank and a rogue has better dps. Although druids can not the best at anything they are still an extremely fun class to play.

WoW Druid Guide Professions

Although many professions can benefit a druid, some help while leveling and others help in end game. Leatherworking is a choice for some for the leather armor you can craft since druids wear leather. Skinning is another profession that goes well with leatherworking. Enchanting is also an option for druids who prefer to disenchant and make money from their leatherwork crafts. If you are a PVP druid, you might want to be a weaponsmith through blacksmithing.

WoW Druid Guide Shape Shifting Forms

The reason most people decide to roll a druid is for their shape shifting abilities.  There are three main forms for a druid – bear, cat, and travel form.  Talent specs will give you tree form which is a healing form.  Druids also receive flight forms instead of purchasing mounts although you must do a series of quests to receive epic flight form.  There is also a moonkin form down the balance tree that brings caster buffs and allows the druid to be a caster.

Bear form is a tanking form.  To increase and better the tanking form as a druid requires some good leather tanking gear.  Defense and armor ratings will help you for bear form, and you will want to spec down the feral tree to become a great tank druid.

Cat form is the fun PVP and dps form.  Cat form is similar to rogue except you can quickly shift to heal.  Being cat form, you will compete with rogues for gear which will anger your party members.  Cat druids are a lot of fun, though, and they can be fun for PVP challenges.

Travel form used to be an advantage prior to recent patches.  It is a way to travel at 30% faster at level 30, but recent patches allow you to buy a mount at this level now.  The only advantage now is that you can run at 30% for a simple cost of training.

Tree form is great for healing.  It gives druids buffs to party members to increase the healing done while in tree form.  It is a great form for raiding and solo healing in 5-man parties.  It helps everyone in your party increase heals to help alleviate the difficulty for certain raid bosses.

Moonkin form is a great caster form.  It provides buffs for other casters and it can be a tremendous dps form.  The con to this talent tree is that most raids have enough dps classes and they prefer a healer.   Moonkins in raids are usually last since even an off-tank is needed more than a caster dps class.
