Rogues
are the sneaky damage dealers in small parties, raids, or
even PVP. Rogues are considered one of the most fun classes
to roll, and many people have rogue alts for some damage and
PVP fun. Rogues can bring top damage in a dungeon instance,
or you can spec your rogue for PVP and slice and dice some
opposing faction players. In this WoW Rogue guide, we
attempt to give you an overall look at the rogue class to
help you decide if it is the right class for your play
style.
What
gives a rogue his top notch abilities is the advantage of
stealth. The
mystery behind the rogue as you continue to level is poison,
stealth, and the ability to attack by
surprise.
Many people who enjoy the PVP aspect of Warcraft find the
rogue’s ability to attack on surprise and stun your
victim undeniably the most fun in the
game.
The
hardest part about a rogue is knowing how to play one
well. Many
people roll rogue alts for fun especially
healers. It’s a
nice change to simply do damage while never worrying about
healing or being the main tank. To be a good rogue,
though, you need to know when to properly stun a player
while maintaining top skill dps. There are many opinions on
what the best tree skill points provide the best rogue
talents. The
three trees – subtlety, assassination, and combat – have
been widely debated throughout the rogue
community.
WoW Rogue Guide -
Professions
Professions
are another thing to consider while playing a
rogue. Rogues
have no buffs or healing abilities, so they rely on other
players or they can create potions and food to increase
damage and defense. Probably the best
profession for a rogue to have is alchemy. Alchemy brings
the rogue buffs during leveling or in end game
instances.
Especially when raiding, potions can be very expensive to
buy when you need a wide variety of buffs. If you raid often, it can
tax your gold reserves. Being an alchemist can
help you level and PVP to help increase
stats.
WoW Rogue Guide - Abilities
The
assassination tree is great for PVP rogues who love the
element of surprise. It increases critical
strike moves, intense stun abilities, and a wide variety of
possible finishing moves to disable the target before the
player has a chance to strike back. A good assassination rogue
can keep the target stunned so that it has no chance of
survival.
Combat
is mainly used in combination with the other
trees. Combat
increases sinister strike, which is the main smashing key
during rogue leveling. Gouge and kick are other
great abilities that are enhanced from this
tree. It can
give the rogue enough time to bandage during critical
moments.
Subtlety
combines a variety of skills for leveling and end game
raiding. Vanish
is picked up early through the tree, and this can be a life
saver for a rogue. Combine this with
engineering and jumper cables and your party will be
thankful for not needing to corpse run back to the
instance.
